You will emerse in the most beautiful parts of Romania. You will pass throught the famous cities in Transylvania and head towards the Northern part of the countries, where time seems to have stood still for some hundreds of years, keeping the local traditions intact.

DAY 1

BUCHAREST

Arrival at Bucharest airport in the afternoon. Meeting point with guide: the information desk at Henry Coanda Airport. Transfer to your hotel. Check-in. Dinner. Accommodation in Bucharest.

DAY 2

BUCHAREST – CURTEA DE ARGES – SIBIU – GURA RAULUI (approx. 310 km)

After breakfast, departure for Curtea de Arges, the former capital of Wallachia. Lunch en route.Visit the Episcopal Church (built 1512-1517) where the Romanian Kings are buried. Drive along the picturesque Olt Valley to Sibiu, one of the oldest towns in Transylvania – formerly Hermannstadt – founded by the Saxon colonists. Guided walking tour of the medieval town (the Main Square, the Evangelical Church, the Liars’ Bridge). Depart for Sibiel – the village which was awarded the prize “Pomme d’Or” by FIJET.Visit the Museum of Icons. Dinner and overnight stay at guest house in Gura Raului , so you could see for yourself  villagers’ life.

DAY 3

SIBIEL – SIGHISOARA – TARGU MURES – BISTRITA (approx. 250 km)

Morning departure to Sighisoara, birthplace of Vlad the Impaler . En-route, visit the fortified Church at Biertan. We arrive at Sighisoara and discover the medieval Citadel, included in UNESCO World Heritage: the Clock Tower, the Church on the Hill, the roofed stairways etc. Lunch at the House of Dracula restaurant.
Continue to Targu Mures, walking tour through the elegant city centre, well known for its architecture: the Palace of Culture, the Orthodox Churches, the Teleki-Bolyai library. Drive on to Bistrita and visit the Gothic Cathedral. It is the place where Jonathan Harker, Bram Stoker’s hero spent the night before arriving at Dracula Castle. Dinner and overnight stay in 3* Dracula House hotel in Bistrita. After dinner: optional night walking tour.

DAY 4

BISTRITA – MARAMURES – SAPANTA – SIGHETU-MARMATIEI – VADU IZEI (approx.180 km)

Departure to Maramures, the land of wood, the region where the most authentic rural life can be found.
A trip to Maramures is, in every season, is a wonderful experience: visit the traditional villages with their wooden portals, the Merry Cemetery at Sapanta – situated very close to the border side with Ukraine, a true chronicle in verses about the villagers’ life. Late afternoon, return to Vadu Izei, via Sighetu-Marmatiei where you can admire the churches dating from the Austro-Hungarian period. Dinner and overnight in Doina guesthouse (3*) / Vadu Izei.

DAY 5

VADU IZEI– ROZAVLEA – IEUD – DRAGOMIRESTI– CAMPULUNG MOLDOVENESC – GURA HUMORULUI (approx.245 km)

In the morning, visit the Rozavlea and Ieud monasteries, continue with the Peasant Museum at Dragomiresti. Lunch en route.
Drive on to Bucovina, the land of the unique painted monasteries, belonging to the UNESCO World Heritage. In Bucovina, admire the beautifully decorated houses. Arrive at Campulung Moldovenesc, to visit the Wooden Museum. Continue to Gura Humorului for dinner and overnight stay in 4* hotel .

DAY 6

GURA HUMORULUI – VORONET – MOLDOVITA- SUCEVITA – MARGINEA – GURA HUMORULUI (approx. 150 km)

In the morning, discover Voronet Monastery – the jewel of Bucovina, also called  “the Sixtine Chapel of the East”, then visit the Moldovita Monastery, also included in UNESCO Heritage which received the Order “La Pomme d’Or”, awarded by the world’s journalists to the monasteries of Bucovina; continue with Sucevita Monastery (1585) – a genuine fortress.Lunch en-route. Stop at the beautiful village of Marginea, famous for its black pottery. Return to Gura Humorului for dinner and overnight in a 4* hotel.

DAY 7

GURA HUMORULUI – NEAMT MONASTERY – SECU MONASTERY- AGAPIA MONASTERY – BICAZ – LACU ROSU-GHEORGHENI (approx. 245 km)

Departure across the beautiful land of Moldavia with its typical villages. Visit the Monastery of Neamt, built during the 14th – 15 century. It represented an important cultural centre and its church was an example for all the churches of Moldavia. Continue with visit of the Secu Monastery. Lunch at the monastery, with wine and “tzuica’’ ( in-house made). Then discover the grand monastery of AGAPIA, which is surrounded by small houses, where approximately. 200 nuns live in, like in a monastic village. In the afternoon, drive along the Bicaz Lake  and the dam to admire another lovely place of the country. Cross Bicaz Gorges on foot, if weather is fine; continue to the Red Lake resort. Dinner and overnight in 3* hotel at Gheorgheni.

DAY 8

LACU ROSU – PREJMER – BRAN – BRASOV (approx. 250 km) 

Departure to Brasov. Stop-over at Prejmer for visiting the fortified church, also included in the UNESCO World Heritage. Drive on to Bran to visit the famous mediaeval castle built as a fortress –  “Dracula’s” Castle – for the citizens of Brasov in 1377, in view of defensing the city. Vlad the Impaler used the Castle as a general headquarter during his incursions in Transylvania. For many years, it has been an interesting medieval art museum. Lunch in a locat restaurant in Bran. Arrive at Brasov, formerly Kronstadt, founded by the Saxon colonists. Walking tour through the old town centre, including the Black Church, the Council Square, the Hirche House, the baroque style buildings from the Austro-Hungarian times. Typical dinner & wine tasting & show at the famous restaurant “The Carpathian Stag”. Overnight in a 3* hotel in Brasov.

DAY 9

BRASOV – SINAIA – BUCHAREST (approx. 200 km)

In the morning, cross the Carpathian Mountains to arrive in Sinaia, one of the most beautiful mountain resorts, so-called the “Pearl of the Carpathians”. Visit the fabulous Peles Castle – former residence of the Royal family with its armoury collection, unique for richness and its diversity. Lunch in a local restaurant.
Continue our drive to Bucharest – visit the Village Museum – one of the largest open-air museums in Europe. Panoramic sightseeing of Bucharest will reveal the highlights of the city so-called “the Paris of the Balkans” in the early 20-th century, an amazing city, where modernity exists together with imposing monuments and buildings dating from 19th – 20th century. Check-in to a  4*hotel / Bucharest. Walking tour in the Old City – Lipscani. Farewell dinner in a lovely traditional restaurant, keeping immortal the old time of Bucharest spirit.

DAY 10

BUCHAREST

After breakfast, visit the House of Parliament, built 1984 – 1989, the second largest building in the world, with unique marble decorations, wooden sculptures made of rare essence aso. Transfer to the airport for your return flight. End of our services.
