DAY 1

Bucharest – Constanta – Tulcea – Mahmudia/Murighiol

Departing from Bucharest, we are heading to Constanta. An ancient metropolis and Romania’s largest sea port, Constanta traces its history some 2,500 years. Founded by Greek colonists from Miletos in the 6th century BC, Tomis was conquered by the Romans in 71 BC and renamed Constantiana by Roman Emperor Constantine the Great in honor of his sister. The name was shortened to Constanta during the Ottoman era. During the 13th century, Italy, especially Genoese merchants, dominated the Black Sea and Constanta flourished, only to decline two centuries later under Turkish rule.

The third largest city in Romania, Constanta is now an important cultural and economic centre, worth exploring for its archaeological treasures and the atmosphere of the old town centre. Constanta is the fourth largest port in Europe, ranked just after Rotterdam, Antwerp and Marseille. Panoramic city tour, Ovidiu’s Square, The Roman Mosaics, The Great Mahmudiye Mosque (1910), St. Peter & Paul Orthodox Cathedral (1885), The Casino (1910), The Genoese Lighthouse (1860), stop for visit the Archeology Museum (Thesaurus room). Time for lunch in Constanta.

We shall depart to Tulcea, the entrance gate to a magical world – The Danube Delta. If the time permits, visit the Danbe Delta Museum. Arrival in Mahmudia or Murighiol. Overnight in a 4* hotel.

DAY 2

Bucharest – Constanta – Tulcea – Mahmudia/Murighiol

Half day trip in Danube Delta to discover the Biosphere Reserv, the third largest biodiversity in the world  (over 5,500 flora and fauna species), exceeded only by the Great Barrier Reef in Australia and the Galapagos Archipelago in Ecuador. The Delta is the birds  paradise, rich in  abundant flora and fauna ( over 300 species of birds ), many of which are unique in Europe. More then half of the Delta Biosphere Reserve is virtually intact.
The Delta is formed around the three man channels of the Danube river, named after their respective ports: Chilia (in the North), Sulina (in the Middle), and Sfantu Gheorghe (in the south). Lunch in a guesthouse, fresh fish cooked on the spot.

Accommodation in a 4* hotel in Mahmudia or Murighiol.

DAY 3

Mahmudia/Murighiol – Murfatlar wine tasting – Bucharest

Departure to Bucharest towards Murfatlar.

The story of the Dobrogean wines begins 2000 years ago . You won’t truly know Dobrogea unless you visit the Murfatlar winery – either you visit the Wineyard and Vine Museum , either you taste the well known wines or the traditional Dobrogean dishes.
Complete the tour with a visit to the Vineyard and Wine Museum, located near the wine cellar. On display, you will find ancient Greek and Roman amphorae and an impressive collection of wine presses, proof of Dobrogea’s noble wine-making tradition.

The trip ends in Bucharest.
